Multi-cloud

What is multi-cloud?

Multi-cloud means running your systems across more than one cloud provider. Some workloads on AWS, others on Google Cloud or Azure, chosen deliberately rather than by accident. The aim is usually to avoid depending on a single vendor, to use the best service for each job, or to meet data rules that require certain workloads in certain places.

Multi-cloud is not the same as hybrid cloud, and the two get confused constantly. Hybrid mixes private infrastructure (your own data center) with public cloud. Multi-cloud uses two or more public clouds. A setup can be both at once. The most common driver is avoiding lock-in: a company might keep its core application on AWS but run analytics on BigQuery because GCP does that part better. The cost is complexity, since every provider has its own tools, billing, and quirks.

Done well, multi-cloud gives leverage and resilience. Done carelessly, it doubles the operational load and the surface for things to go wrong without delivering much in return.

Multi-cloud at Dallonses

We treat multi-cloud as a decision, not a default. Most projects are better off on one provider, run well. When a real reason exists, like a regulatory boundary or a service one provider genuinely does better, we design for it deliberately and keep the seams clean.

The work that makes multi-cloud survivable is platform standardization: shared tooling, consistent deployment patterns, and software architecture that doesn't bind logic to one vendor's services. We pair that with cost optimization across every account, because two bills are twice as easy to lose track of. Companies come to us when their multi-cloud setup has become more burden than benefit, and we work through it with them until it earns its keep again.

Spread across clouds and feeling the drag? Let's make it work for you.
