25 Years, 30 Countries, One Platform Connecting Them All

Spring GDS

Spring GDS is the cross-border logistics arm of the PostNL Group. They move e-commerce, mail, and returns to over 190 destinations. Their workforce is spread across 30+ countries. Most employees have never met. For their 25th anniversary, they wanted to do something that mattered. Not a video, not a slide deck. A platform that brought their global team together and stayed useful long after the anniversary ended. We partnered with them to build it. The brief was internal connection. The outcome turned into something more useful: a company that understands itself.

The map is the company.

An employee joins the platform. They fill out a profile and answer questions across work, interests, values, and culture. From those answers, the platform builds a picture of who they are and who, somewhere in a company of 30+ countries, they would most want to meet.

Then they open the map. A 3D globe of the entire company. Employees spin it, drop into a country, find the people there. Fluid rendering across devices, no performance trade-offs.

The map is not decoration. It is the navigation, the directory, and the mental model of the company in one screen. A logistics business defined by routes between countries finally has a routing layer for its own people.

From the globe, employees discover colleagues by affinity. Our matching algorithm scores compatibility between profiles and surfaces the colleagues they would most want to talk to. Not by department. Not by tenure. By what makes a real conversation.

A driver in Madrid finds a customer service lead in Singapore. They message directly or take it to the company-wide forum. Both run through AI moderation that checks every message against Spring GDS's code of ethics in real time. Open conversation at company scale, without the operational risk.

An achievements system rewards activity, gives long-tenured employees recognition for showing up, and gives new hires a way in. A time capsule sits alongside the main experience, where employees upload photos from the last 25 years. Memory contributed by the people who lived it. Useful, but supporting. The map is the main thing.

A CRM that finally knows the workforce

Every answer, every interaction, every affinity feeds into a CRM built for Spring GDS's leadership team. A custom CRM, but turned inward instead of pointed at customers. Leadership can segment audiences by country, role, interest, or affinity cluster. Send targeted communications to the right people instead of blast emails the entire company ignores. Track engagement at a level the company has never had. The byproduct is something more strategic than internal comms. Leadership can finally see what makes their workforce tick, where retention risks are clustering, which interests cut across countries, what the company's people actually care about. The data was always there. The platform turned it into something they can use.

Built for 25 years. Designed to outlive them.

This is not a campaign that ends in December. We are maintaining the platform with Spring GDS beyond the anniversary, evolving it into a permanent internal layer for the company. New features will keep landing, focused on interactions that have nothing to do with 25 years. Cross-country project channels. Onboarding paths that connect new hires to people, not just policies. Internal events, recognitions, conversations. The anniversary was the reason to launch. The platform is the reason it keeps running.

Spring GDS asked for an anniversary moment. We built them a permanent internal network with a 3D map of the company at its center. Employees who had never met now find each other by affinity, talk directly, and stay engaged through ongoing interactions. Leadership has a CRM that gives them a clearer picture of their own workforce than they have ever had.

Internal engagement does not show up on the same dashboards as revenue. It shows up in retention, in collaboration across borders, in people staying because they feel part of something bigger than their local office. A logistics company connecting 30 countries to itself with the same care it gives the 190 it ships to.

The anniversary was the trigger. The platform is the long-term investment.
